Burst pipes and active leaks
If it’s safe, the caller is told to shut off the main water valve and to stay away from water near outlets or the electrical panel. Then it pages the on-call plumber or warm-transfers the call under your rules.
RingToRoute is an AI receptionist for residential plumbing shops with 3–20 techs. It picks up every call, day or night, gives safety steps first on burst pipes and gas smells, pages your on-call plumber or books the job into your arrival windows. Once carrier registration is approved, it can also text back callers you missed.
PilotMonth-to-month. Start with a 30-day paid pilot for $250, and we credit it toward setup if you stay.
From water on the floor at midnight to a slow drain on a Tuesday, each call gets the right next step.
If it’s safe, the caller is told to shut off the main water valve and to stay away from water near outlets or the electrical panel. Then it pages the on-call plumber or warm-transfers the call under your rules.
Our demo agent treats a sewage backup, no water at all and a heavily leaking water heater as emergencies, and tells a caller with a backup to stop using water and toilets.
Safety instructions come first: leave the house, and call 911 or the gas utility from outside. Then it takes only a callback number and address and pages your on-call tech.
Collects name, address, the problem and the equipment details, then offers real arrival windows like "8–12" or "12–4". It can also reschedule and cancel.
Covers nights, weekends, holidays and the Monday-morning rush when every line is busy. It follows your after-hours fee and on-call rules.
Once US carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) is approved: if a caller hangs up before anyone answers, they get one reply text from your business number so the conversation keeps going. Replying STOP opts them out.
Safety comes first, then the shortest possible intake, then your on-call tech. Routine calls get booked instead of waking anyone up.
| What the caller says | What the AI front desk does | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Caller“A pipe burst and there’s water everywhere.” | If it’s safe, shut off the main water valve, usually in the basement, crawlspace, or near the water heater or meter. Stay away from water near outlets or the electrical panel. Then it pages the on-call plumber. | Emergency |
| Caller“Sewage is coming up in the basement.” | Tells the caller to stop using water and toilets in the home, takes the details and pages on-call. | Emergency |
| Caller“The water heater is leaking a lot.” | Treated as an emergency in our demo rules: minimal intake, then the on-call plumber is paged. | Emergency |
| Caller“The kitchen drain is slow. Can someone come Thursday?” | Collects the details and books it into an open arrival window, then confirms the window on the call. Text confirmations start after carrier approval, with the caller’s consent. | Booked |
NoteThese are the rules in our demo agent for a fictional shop. You set your own emergency rules during setup, and the call follows your transfer or callback rules.
No DIY repair advice beyond those safety steps: no snaking drains, opening panels, relighting pilots, resetting gas valves or wiring. It doesn’t diagnose over the phone, never quotes prices you haven’t approved, and never pretends to be a person.
We set everything up for you. You don't configure software or learn a new app.
A 30-minute call covers your services, service area, trip fee, hours, on-call rotation and what counts as an emergency in your shop, from a burst pipe to a sewage backup. We write the call script around how you already work.
You choose when: after hours only, when nobody picks up within a few rings, or all the time. Your existing number stays the same.
Booked jobs, emergency pages and call summaries go to your calendar, your phone and your inbox. You get a short report every week.
The same plans for every trade. Every plan includes setup and scripting by us, call recordings and transcripts, and the weekly report.
Not sure yet? Run a 30-day paid pilot for $250. If you keep it, the full $250 goes toward your setup fee.
Compare plans and the pilotOnly prices you’ve approved, such as your diagnostic, trip or after-hours fee. Everything else is quoted on site by your plumber. Our demo agent won’t give a range or a ballpark, even when a caller pushes for one.
You set the rules. A typical setup: an active leak gets an immediate page or warm transfer, and a gas smell gets safety instructions first (leave the house, call 911 or the gas utility), then the on-call tech is paged. Anything else gets booked into the next open window.
Out of the box it books into a shared Google Calendar or sends a structured job ticket to your dispatcher. We can connect Jobber or Housecall Pro for your account during onboarding (Housecall Pro's API needs their MAX plan). ServiceTitan is on our roadmap but not available yet. We'd rather tell you that now than surprise you later.
Yes. Every call opens with "this call may be recorded", the greeting says it's a virtual assistant for your shop, and if anyone asks, it confirms it's an AI. Callers can ask for a person at any time, and the call follows your transfer or callback rules. More in our AI & recording disclosure.
Not yet. Texting turns on once US carrier registration (A2P 10DLC) is approved. After that, it only sends texts the caller asked for or agreed to on the call, such as confirmations, reminders and the reply when you missed them. Every text includes opt-out instructions, and STOP always works. See our SMS Terms.
In 15 minutes, we'll go over how your calls come in today, play the demo, and tell you plainly whether we're a good fit.
